Yes indeed, though I've been studying a lot of bass recently nonetheless. I've been watching some Jaco Pastorius tutorial videos from the 80s, and he has a lot of really practical and easily applicable advice. For example, he points out that playing with the picking hand farther from the fingerboard increases speed because the strings are less taught--something I'd never even considered. He also has some neat tips on reducing noise, and how to play on a fretted bass. Good stuff. I can't wait to try it out when I get home. His biggest bit of advice, though, is to practice... something I should do more often. I really ought to take a bass to Yale.
